Michelle Harvey (USA 829, MFA) is an associate professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance and freelance scenic and projection designer for theatrical and entertainment events. She holds a BA degree in theatre from The Ohio State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in scenic design from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829, a union and professional association for designers, artists, and craftspeople in the entertainment and decorative arts industries. Michelle has designed professionally for The Aspen Music Festival, Tent Theatre, the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, Dallas Children’s Theater, Uptown Players, Stage West, Theatre Three, The Turtle Creek Chorale, The Spectacular Senior Follies, among others as well as guest artist designs with Florida State University and James Madison University. Elsewhere, she has designed in Arizona, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Recent design credits include the scenic design for Cosi fan tutte, the directorial debut of Reneé Fleming, and Le Nozze di Figaro with the Aspen Music Festival, scenic and projection design for The Happy Elf with the Dallas Children’s Theater and White Christmas with Missouri State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance. She has been a member and held various leadership positions with the United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) since 2001.
